Dynamical zeros in neutrino-electron elastic scattering at leading order.

چکیده
We show the existence of dynamical zeros in the helicity amplitudes for neutrinoelectron elastic scattering at lowest order in the standard theory. In particular, the λ = 1/2 non-flip electron helicity amplitude in the electron antineutrino process vanishes for an incident neutrino energy Eν = me/(4sin θW ) and forward electrons (maximum recoil energy). The rest of helicity amplitudes show kinematical zeros in this configuration and therefore the cross section vanishes. Prospects to search for neutrino magnetic moment are discussed

Neutrino Mass and Magnetic Moment from Neutrino-electron Scattering
We study both the elastic (νe → νe) and the radiative process (νe → νeγ) and discuss how these processes can shed light on some current topics in neutrino physics such as a neutrino magnetic moment and neutrino oscillations. The radiative process allows to reach low values of Q without the need to operate at very small energies of recoil electrons, a favourable scenario to search for a neutrino...
متن کاملComparison of electron-nucleus quasi-elastic cross sections using spectral functions with (e, e) data from 0.5 GeV to 1.5 GeV and effects on neutrino quasi-elastic cross sections
We carry out a relativistic calculation of the cross sections of electron-O and -C quasi-elastic scattering and quasi-free ∆ production and compare with the (e, e) data systematically in the wide energy range of 0.5 – 1.5 GeV. Using the same formalism, we examine the νμ quasi-elastic scattering from O. The model incorporating the nuclear correlation effects agrees better with the electron-nucle...
متن کاملWhat can we learn from neutrino electron scattering ?
Precision tests of the standard model are essential for constraining models of new physics. Neutrino–electron elastic scattering offers a clean probe into many electroweak effects that are complimentary to the more canonical measurements done at collider facilities. Such reactions are rare, even as compared with the already tiny cross-sections for neutrino–nucleon scattering, and competitive pr...
متن کاملImplications for Solar Neutrino Oscillations from Super-Kamiokande and SNO Data
Super-Kamiokande uses neutrino-electron elastic scattering to measure the recoil electron spectrum and zenith-angle dependence of solar B neutrinos. SNO has measured the B neutrino–deuteron charged-current reaction rate. The elastic scattering rate, spectrum and zenith-angle dependence in conjunction with the charged-current reaction rate favors active neutrino oscillations at large mixing angl...
متن کاملVector and Axial Nucleon Form Factors: A Duality Constrained Parameterization
We present new parameterizations of vector and axial nucleon form factors. We maintain an excellent descriptions of the form factors at low momentum transfers, where the spatial structure of the nucleon is important, and use the Nachtman scaling variable ξ to relate elastic and inelastic form factors and impose quark-hadron duality constraints at high momentum transfers where the quark structur...
